The first broodmare I bought two years ago!
It’s not always easy-peasy in my unicorn world…
This mare definitely made me work harder than I ever expected—and gave me more than a few headaches over almost two breeding seasons!
The breeder’s craziness really started to creep in after I got Sky pregnant the year before. In January, I had the opportunity to lease a maiden mare for reproduction, and that’s when the idea of starting my own little breeding herd really took hold.
Then… things escalated 😅
I went on a trip to pick up a mare for my breeder best friend—and somehow ended up coming home with my very own broodmare in my friend’s trailer. Let’s just say my husband was not expecting what came out of that trailer that day… but in the end, he just smiled at me and my craziness!!!
Chabling had at least one foal before (I even found a picture online), so I was feeling hopeful. But during the 2024 season, I tried to get her pregnant four times… and nothing worked.
No foals for 2025. Not from her, not from the other mare either.
That was a tough moment. I was honestly discouraged and started questioning my decision to get into breeding. But when you’re a little crazy—and definitely stubborn—you don’t quit that easily… even after four attempts on one mare, three on another, and a bank account that’s begging you to stop!
Finally, in the summer of 2025, everything changed.
With the help of an amazing equine veterinarian specialized in reproduction, we gave it another shot. It took a few extra tricks and a lot of patience—but it worked.
Chabling is finally pregnant, and expecting a foal by Picobello-S, a very promising young stallion and son of the legendary United Touch S.
Saying I can’t wait to meet this foal is an understatement.
Chabling is a big, strong mare with great bone and size—so of course, I’m dreaming of a tall, long-legged filly to match ✨
