What a stallion Diacontinus is! I watched the videos of his sire over and over again during Sky’s pregnancy. That beautiful tall grey made me dream about my future competition horse from the moment I got the surprise of a pregnancy on the very first attempt with frozen semen (quite lucky with an older mare!). With his big, regular strides, an uphill canter, and an incredible jump, it looks like he’s flying over the fences. I can easily imagine myself riding a horse like him.
When she was born—another surprise foaling from my dear Sky with no warning—I was delighted to discover a beautiful bay filly (my favorite color because they always look so clean). I immediately fell in love with this affectionate and endearing little filly!
She quickly gained confidence and soon showed me that she had her own opinions about the different things I asked of her (her attitude reminded me of her half-sister Dynamite and meant her early training would require consistency and patience). She did become more cooperative fairly quickly, but she is still a mare after all—lol.
She is very friendly, always comes to say hello when I go out to see them in the field, and is often the first to welcome new horses introduced to the herd. She loves scratches and, in the end, she turned grey like her father (I’ll definitely need a groom to help keep her clean when I start taking her to shows!!).
I think she’ll be very happy to have fun with me this summer when we start her under-saddle training slowly. I can’t wait to see how far we’ll go together! 🐎✨
